Kim Hyun Joong Sets New Record with Japanese Concert DVD

Guess placing first on the Oricon’s Daily DVD Chart just wasn′t enough for Kim Hyun Joong.

According to the Oricon Chart on May 23, Kim Hyun Joong’s concert DVD titled First Impact sold 16,000 copies in the first week of its release, confidently taking the number one spot for the Overall DVD Chart.



This is the second time a foreign artist has taken the number one spot on the charts, the first being Michael Jackson, with his 2011 DVD. The highest a Korean artist has gotten on this particular chart was BoA in 2003 when she placed third for her DVD, 8 Miles and More. Kim Hyun Joong has set a new record of being the first Korean to ever take the number one spot.

The content of First Impact included footage from Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese concert tour in November of 2011, where he traveled to eight different cities, specifically focusing on his Yokohoma Arena concert in February.

While setting new records and getting published in famous news publication, Kim Hyun Joong is preparing to release a new Japanese single album titled Heat on July 4.

Kim Hyun Joong has been gaining quite the momentum in Japan, and to add to it, he has just completed his project with the popular Japanese group, B’z.

Key East revealed on May 1st, “Kim Hyun Joong received a song titled ‘Heat’ from the nationally loved Japanese musicians, B’z, and has finished recording. ‘Heat’ will be included in his second single album that will be released in Japan in July.”

This comes after the news of the singer picking B’z as the Japanese musician he likes the most during a press conference before his Japan tour last year. Through Universal Music, Kim Hyung Joong put in a request for a song, and B’z gladly accepted his request.

“It’s an honor to be able to work with the Japanese musician I’ve always liked”, Kim Hyun Joong commented. “During the recording of ‘Heat’, the B’z members gave me advice, and I was able to enjoy the recording session thanks to them. I will greet everyone with a high quality album, so please anticipate it.”

In related news, Kim Hyun Joong is currently preparing for his ‘Kim Hyun Joon Fan Meeting Tour 2012′, which will take place in various cities across Asia, as well as considering various casting offers for his acting career.

It was disclosed that Kim Hyun Joong who ranked the 2nd on Oricon chart with his Japan solo album , "Kiss Kiss/Lucky Guy" and made a record of the best selling on the first release day as an overseas artist, is going to release his second single on July 14.

It was a really big news that B'z who produces this album ( Inaba wrote songs and Matsumoto coposed them). It is the first time for B'z to produce songs for other artist since their debut in 1988. Furthermore, Inaba joined in chorus while Matsumoto played a guitar in recording. The album title is " HEAT ". There is no wonder that this single album will be a hot hit this summer like its title. Kim Hyun Joong told at his Japan Solo Debut press conference in November that he waｓ B'z 's fan himself. B'z accepted an offer from Kim Hyun Joong side to produce a song for his album.
