1mistake here: KHJ still rules Asia not ruled*******- Sriz
Kim Hyun Joong again proved he ruled Asia by selling his drama for more than 1 million won. City Conquest, Kim Hyun Joong’s next piece, has been gathering interest from buyers around the world.
A rep from Kim Hyun Joong’s agency Key East said on May 4, “Currently, we’ve earned sales of 10 million dollars. These contracts prove how popular Kim Hyun Joong is in Asia. It’s very encouraging that even before the actual shoot started, such a feat was made possible due to Kim Hyun Joong being cast for the drama.”
MBC’s Playful Kiss, which Kim Hyun Joong starred in for 2010, was sold to a total of 11 Asian countries, and broke records of Korean drama prices in many of them including Thailand and the Philippines. Expectations are thus also high for Kim Hyun Joong’s first small screen comeback in two years, City Conquest.
Baek Jin Dong, head of the production company for City Conquest, said, “We’ve confirmed contracts with great terms adding up to approximately 10 million dollars in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, bringing on the Kim Hyun Joong effect. City Conquest is about the main character Baek Mir, who grew up hating his father for abandoning himself and his mother, and who tries to get revenge on social evils that drove his family to collapse."
"Kim Hyun Joong will be taking on the Baek Mir role, a character completely different from his previous image. Baek Mir will be like a wild horse that had to get through rough times, but weakens in the face of love," added Baek Jin Dong.
Director Shin Je Kwang of Key East said, “Despite the fact that he’s still in the middle of his fanmeeting tour, Kim Hyun Joong is training hard in acting in order to meet expectations both inside and outside the country. Please show him your support so that he can come back as a better actor.”
City Conquest plans to finish making its casting decisions soon, and will start shooting on locale in Japan from early July.
